πŸ‘‹ Welcome to my Log Blog!

Hi, I’m Andrei Gabriel Popescu β€” a Data Scientist and Software Engineer with a passion for building intelligent systems that create measurable impact.

What I Do

Currently, I work at Orange Services (Bucharest, Romania), where I design and deploy ML pipelines for CAPEX optimisation, large-scale NLP systems, and enterprise LLM solutions. I’ve led projects ranging from speech-to-text systems processing 100k+ calls per month to customer support automation powered by LLMs.

Beyond day-to-day engineering, I mentored and teach at Politehnica University of Bucharest, where I’ve guided interns and students who became part of the team at Orange Services.

In the past, I’ve also worked in fintech, blockchain, and big data visualization, contributing to projects in Romania and the UK across data science, backend engineering, and full-stack web development.

Interests & Technical Focus

  • Machine Learning & AI β€” research, production pipelines, NLP, and generative models
  • Software Engineering β€” scalable systems, backend, and full-stack applications
  • Quantitative Finance β€” applying ML and optimization to financial modeling
  • C++ β€” high-performance computing and systems-level ML
  • Web Technologies β€” React, Node.js, Flask, and data-driven dashboards
  • MLOps β€” deploying, scaling, and monitoring ML systems in production (GCP, Docker, Airflow)

Education

πŸŽ“ MSc Artificial Intelligence β€” Politehnica University of Bucharest

  • Research in Unsupervised Domain Adaptation & Dialogue State Tracking
  • Actively involved in teaching AI seminars and supporting academic bootcamps

πŸŽ“ BSc Computer Engineering β€” Politehnica University of Bucharest

  • Thesis: Task-agnostic sequence generator using GANs and Transformers

Open for Collaborations 🀝

I’m always excited to collaborate β€” whether it’s in ML research, software engineering projects, quant finance applications, or building web-based AI tools.

If you’d like to work together, let’s connect:

Have a project in mind? Let’s build it together.
